Youth Basketball
Established in June 1987, the youth basketball program aims to cultivate and improve the physical and emotional development of youth. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and cooperation are emphasized. Kenneth Young was the founding Commissioner and K.N. Chow, H.P. Hsu, Frank Hu and Willie Blohm volunteered as coaches. From 1988 to 1993, John Chiang (who was later elected to the California Board of Equalization) served as coach.
Boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 may join the league. Although the team was initially made up almost entirely of boys, a girl's team was formed in 1990. They practice every Sunday afternoons from 2:00 - 3:30pm. In March and October each year, our team competes against teams from other Chinese schools as part of the Overseas Chinese Athletic Season Program. Over the years, our team has steadily improved its record and won several championships.
